Dear Arvind,
I am a common man. An educated, middle-class, law-abiding citizen who has been extremely excited to see your rise. The rise of positivism and willingness to change the corrupt world. The revolt against corruption and mafia that has pervaded all aspects of our public life. You have been a symbol of hope, change and determinsim to do things "right". I have seen courage, strength of character, enthusiasm to act, ability to trust people and foresight in you. And all of these have been very motivating factors for me to support you. When you gave the CM speech, I stood in admiration and clapped like an excited teenager.
However, off late, I have felt disappointed, I have felt ashamed and humbled. It has been hard to support your actions, or understand the rationale behind them. The positivim has turned into negativity, with you refusing to accept that people might differ from you - and brandishing them as paid or corrupted by other political parties. I had hoped to see the leader in you will rise up, take the authority and utilise the powers granted to you as chief of elected government representatives.
However, in case of confrontation, what I have seen is that you have put the interests of your colleagues first, undermining your leadership. Today you ask, if the police can enter a shanty without a warrant, why cant it enter a supposed place of prostitution wihout a warrant. My dear sir, hope you do realise, that tomorrow, the police - can use the same argument to enter a shanty, simply based on suspicion, saying that govt supported it when enterd a supposed place of prostitution, on suspicion.
You say, that your protest is for the Danish woman and police inaction on it. And you repeat that in R'Day speech. Please help me understand, if this was so important, why the two policemen sent on leave were those who asked the law to be followed AND confronted minister and not the ones under whom rape happened. Arvind, I am extremely pained to see you using dirty politics. I hold you in high regard, please do not make me ashamed of myself.
Dear sir, you stand for hope and positive action. You cannot stand for negativity, mistrust and for dubbing all opinions as sponsored. You stand for collective action. I hope you do understand that you are now a leader not only of the masses who voted for you, but also of all the departments that you now lead. I believe you are well aware that todays world needs policies of collaboration and bringing people on board for decision. I beleive you understand difference between disruptive action and conforming inaction. I also believe that you do not support autocratic funtioning with low regard for processes.
I am pained to see that your words these days are often of distrust, conspiracy and of disciplining people. That is not the Arvind Kejriwal I support sir. The kejriwal I support is the guy who would think his actions through, be righteous and always be on the right side of law. The Kejriwal I support cannot give in to populism or to his ego, or to the ego of his friends. The Kejriwal I support knows when a friend want law to been broken, even if for achieving the right end, and is willing to confront his own friends for that. The Kejriwal I support does not react, and rather thinks through. The Kejriwal I support leads people and departments and does not have a need to discipline them.
Dear Arvind, a lot of my friends have stopped supporting you or the party you represent. I am pained to see that. I would request you to please have a word with your own team, including but not limited to Bala, Meera and other well respected people whom you would trust as not being media/ politically-supported liars.
I know your actions have changed Indian politics, for good. I hope that you'll be studied by Harvards and Stanfords as the man who changed the world, and not as a man who set out to change the world, but failed to handle great power.
Arvind, I support you and I want to see it that way in future as well. You are a hope that cannot be diminished, even by your actions. Your failure would be unbearable pain. Please wake up and listen.
Wishing you all the best.
Ram
